November 2015

I turned 7 over the summer and I am in second grade. I love dogs, cats, bunnies....anything soft and furry. Maybe I will be a vet when I grow up. I also love fashion and try to make my school outfits as cutting edge as possible. My mama loves me to pieces and takes way too many pictures of me. Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I plan to help in the kitchen. Hopefully I will get to do more than just peel the potatoes.

This is what I do!

All day long I help kids learn how to play string instruments: violin, viola, cello, bass and harp. We have tons of fun, while working on the basics of musicianship and performance. The first picture (sorry for the quality) is my fifth grade orchestra performing a Mariachi tune at their kick-off to a unit on Latin America; Fiesta Day. All 5th graders participate by singing songs (prepared by the General Music teacher), dancing dances (prepared by the PE teachers) and displaying art (prepared by the Art teacher). The second is my third grade orchestra. Half of these kids started playing their instruments in September. The other half have been playing since 1st and 2nd grade.
I love my school!

Snow Day - Valentine's Day - 2007

A Snow Day is a two-edged sword. On the good side, you get to sleep in on a day that you normally have to get up early in the cold to go to work. On the bad side, if there is enough snow to warrent a snow day, then there is a boatload of snow in your driveway and if you want to get your car out to the street that day or the next morning, you have to shovel it. So, on February 14, I awoke to a Snow Day....NO SCHOOL!!!!! I was happy until the moment I had to trudge outside, bundled up to my eyes and dig out. Just as I finished our LONG, LONG driveway, who should show up but the town snow plow.

Snow plows are a two-edged sword. On the good side, they clear the roads so you can drive places without skidding all over the road. On the bad side, they push all the snow in the street (including rocks and bits of salt) ACROSS the entrance to MY DRIVEWAY, creating a frozen, heavy wall of snow.

Okay, so after shoveling the driveway and the huge pile the snow plow left me, I was pretty warm. Then I enjoyed the day.

Winter in New York

Well, we haven't had much snow in our part of New York this year. We did get a bit....so here are scenes from our front yard of the brief, but beautiful 'winter wonderland.' It did not last long....the grass is green today (January 2, 2007). Happy New Year everyone!

A visit with Teddy

My nephew, Teddy, visited us for Christmas this year. The last time he visited us was 10 years ago. He has grown up into a very nice young man!

Merry Christmas!

"Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Luke 2:10-12

Thanksgiving with our dads

This year we flew to San Diego to visit our dads for Thanksgiving. The weather was beautiful the entire time we were there. David and I posed with my dad and Mark & David posed with Marks's dad.

Hope everyone has a safe, fun Halloween!

More from our Colorado Trip

One of the highlights from our trip to the USAFA was our visit with Mike & Marlene. We always enjoy their companionship and hospitality. Although we did not get a good photo of Marlene, here is one of Mike....
